Interesting antedatings

Revision of the entries in the September 2003 OED Online update has revealed an earlier origin than previously known for many words, including:

• necrosis (antedated to 1583 from 1665)
• neologize (1813 from 1846)
• neophyte (a1425 from a1550)
• nerdy (1960 from 1978)
• newly-wed (1593 from 1918)
• Newtonian (1676 from 1713)
• niceish (1793 from 1835)
• nightshirt (1657 from 1857)
• nil (c1550 from 1833)
