Searching for entries by date

Aim: to search for all words whose earliest evidence is from the year 1970

  1. Open the Full Text search panel by clicking [Show Simple Search form].

  2. Type 1970 into the input box.

  3. Click on the list box (showing full text by default) and choose first cited date as your text area. This confines your search to the dates of the earliest recorded usage of words.

  4. Click [Perform Full Text search] to start the search.

  5. The results list is displayed. Click on an entry's name to display it.

Dates can be typed as a single date, as above, or in the form of a closed range (e.g. 1970-1972), an open range (e.g. 1970-), or the end of a range (e.g. -1970). Wildcards cannot be used in date searches.
